Calcium levels may rise in the presence of:

  • Acidosis
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Hyperparathyroidism
  • Bedrest
  • Calcium supplements
  • Excessive vitamin D intake

Calcium levels may fall in the presence of:

  • Decreased plasma proteins
