A rapid reference

G6PD

G6PD deficiency is one of a number of causes of hemolytic anemia. In many cases, the hemolysis is mild and not noticed until a provoking incident, such as:
  • Sulfonamides
  • Primaquine
  • Ingestion of Fava Beans
  • Serious viral or bacterial infection

G6PD Levels may be elevated in:

  • Liver failure
  • Myocardial infarction
  • Chronic blood loss
  • Hyperthyroidism

G6PD Levels are decreased in G6PD deficiency.

Normal Values*

G6PD 6.75-9.93 IU/g Hgb
